Srinagar, March 12 (KNO) : Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has strongly condemned the ‘repression and suppression’ being used at the highest level against the people of Kashmir who are demanding and struggling for their right to self determination from decades now. In a statement issued to KNO, JKDFP Spokesperson said, “New Delhi arrested their party chief and senior resistance leader Shabir Shah in an old and fabricated case only to intimidate the people of Kashmir.” “However, freedom loving people followed the way of resistance shown by Shabir Shah which frustrated the authorities to the extent that they started arresting people in nook and corner. Fact of the matter is that by putting political leaders and activists in jails will only suffocate the atmosphere more and pave way for much harsh reaction at people’s level,” he added. JKDFP suggested New Delhi to adopt an approach of reconciliation so that the issue is resolved. “India has already filled all the jails in and outside Jammu Kashmir but people in general have not given up their demand of self determination. So it is high time for India to think positively and accept that Kashmir region is a disputed one which can only be resolved by listening to the people of Kashmir,” spokesperson said. “New Delhi used all sorts of force against the people of Kashmir and the result is that today every citizen is on path of the resistance. It jailed Shabir Shah and other leaders but the Kashmir dispute remained there. New Delhi has now started intimidating our religious leadership which is an indication that all its policies so far have miserably failed. There is only one way left for New Delhi and that is to listen to the people of Kashmir and accept their decision regarding their political future,” he said.(KNO)
