Jammu, March 13 (KNO) : Additional Secretary National Conference, Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal supporting the demand of PSAJK (Private schools association of J&K) that government should exempt school buses and ambulances from restrictive orders during Army convoy and said that Army cannot take law into its own hands save during war time & that too in close & complete cooperation and coordination with the state police. “In fact these vehicles are given the right of way the world over. In the present case the state police particularly its traffic wing is conspicuous by their absence as personally observed during my travel by road from Jammu to Srinagar on 10thinstant,” Dr. Kamaal said. “It was a distressing site of thousands of vehicles spread over the highway from Quazigund to Srinagar with anxiety writ large on the face of the passengers/travelers with soldiers wielding sticks menacingly at each road side crossing and intersection. For me it was a sad day to see our own army willfully putting people to great and unwarranted inconvenience. It has never been done in the past not even in the Indo-Pak wars,” he said. Dr. Kamaal appealed to the state government not to turn a blind eye to this uncalled for act of apparent retribution/vengeance of the Army and be a mute spectator to this human rights violation where people are being made a scapegoat for something they have not done and that such strong arm tactics are inimical to the interests of the state and are downright inhuman.(KNO)
