R S Pura March 16 (KNO) : National Conference leaders on Saturday urged the workers to get ready for meeting challenges faced to Jammu and Kashmir, saying this is the only party that can steer the state to peace, progress and development. “The state is passing through a difficult phase and a holistic approach is required for bringing about peace and normalcy, a pre-requisite for progress and development, by maintaining unity and isolating forces inimical to amity and brotherhood”, senior NC leader and former Chief Secretary B R Kundal said while addressing workers near Miran Sahib this afternoon. According to a statement issued to KNO, Kundal said political stability was imperative for meeting challenges confronted to the state on all fronts and exuded confidence that the forward looking and politically sagacious people will come forward in a big way and be part of the change. He said National Conference alone can give political stability to the state which has undergone a phase of uncertainty for the past few years. Kundal recalled the track record of National Conference in service of the people and referred to various initiatives taken from time to time for upliftment of poor and weaker sections of society, enhancing female literacy, providing equal opportunities of progress to all, irrespective of region, religion or caste and bridging the gap between haves and have-not’s. Speaking on the occasion State Vice President NC Women Wing and former MLA Bimla Luthra said that the state suffered immensely during over three years’ mis-governance and misrule of the PDP-BJP dispensation which worked at cross purposes and ignored the legitimate aspirations of the people. She said the insensitive dispensation failed in feeling the pulse of the people with regard to development and all important assistance to the border dwellers. Luthra described the callousness of the BJP towards people as a classic example of its deceit and deception and said the party has been thriving on exploiting sentiments of the people. She said the people has understood their politics of hate and would give them a befitting reply in the ensuing elections. Luthra urged the people especially the women to play their crucial role in isolating divisive forces, which she described as a biggest challenge to the unity of the state.(KNO)
