Srinagar, March 18 (KNO) : Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising of APHC (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, APHC (M) chairman Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Monday termed the ‘ongoing and unabated oppression’ in Kashmir and Muslim dominated areas of Jammu as ‘a result of colonial mindset of rulers’. According to a statement issued to KNO, JRL said “Maneuvers to trample a peoples’ resistance through NIA, ED like agencies, PSA and Unlawful acts, banning socio /religious organizations, arresting common people, political activists, Ulema and religious scholars, and other acts of crackdown and tyranny are like daydreaming.” They said that human history bears a witness to the fact that suppressing peoples movements through military and police force is not possible and such dreams always prove dreams without interpretation that never come true. Naming NIA, ED warrants and summons against Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq, Syed Naseem Geelani and others as part of ‘operation all-out’ and ‘undemocratic acts’, JRL said, “Framing concocted charges by using NIA, ED like agencies and then intimidating leaders, their children, kith and kin and friends under this garb is ample proof of Indian failure to defeat Kashmiri resistance and this is what has prompted India rulers to start a new revengeful oppression against Kashmiris.” “This undemocratic approach has and is pushing Kashmiris to the wall and hence promoting worst violence,” they said, adding that a struggle that is nourished by the sacred blood of martyrs cannot be defeated by such mean acts and as long as a single Kashmiri lives, this struggle for freedom and right to self-determination will live and reach to its desired goal. JRL said summoning Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq, Syed Naseem Geelani and other to Delhi by NIA and ED is also aimed at ‘fooling’ Indian public to garner more and more votes and seats in upcoming elections, which too is a condemnable act. They also deplored the arrest of JKLF chairman, one of the pillars of JRL, Muhammad Yasin Malik, spokesman of Jamat-I-Islami Advocate Zahid Ali, Vice President of Jamiat Ahlihadees Molvi Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri and hundreds of others and implementation of black law PSA on them, reopening some concocted cases on Yasin Malik and others and additional acts of ‘oppression’. “This arrest spree is also part of operation all-out and Kashmiris have been bearing this kind of tyranny from 70 plus years now. These suppressive measures have failed in the past and are bound to fail in the future too,” asserted JRL. The leadership said that veteran ailing leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has been placed under house arrest from last many years and Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq and others are also often caged like this and the main purpose of these confinements is to stop leadership from meeting masses. Terming the dossier that has been framed against JRL leader Muhammad Yasin Malik as ‘absurd’, JRL said that “this dossier, its language and also putting this ailing leader in solitary confinement at Kot-Balwal jail illustrates the mental bankruptcy of police and civil administration.” Terming the ban on Jamat-I-Islami and arresting its entire leadership including Ameer Dr Hameed Fayaz as ‘dictatorial’, JRL said people who lynch humans in broad daylight under the full glare of cameras, who burn down entire populations, torture and torment honorable people and are seen threatening to eliminate Muslims on social media are being provided government patronage and those who work for the welfare of society, who provide education, who do social and religious work are banned , their offices and homes stand confiscated and everyone affiliated with them is subjected to worst apathy. “This is a glaring example of double standard and testimony of Muslim and Kashmir animosity of Indian rulers and is highly condemnable,” they said. Asking people of Jammu Kashmir to remain steadfast, upright and affiliated to the resistance movement, JRL said that “from long Kashmiris have been endeavoring Indian atrocities and resisting its tyranny with passion and steadfastness.” “We have kept our peaceful political resistance alive in every situation and nowadays when every young and old, leader and activist of resistance movement is facing Indian tyranny, when leaders along with their families and friends are being intimidated and booked under black laws, and today when Indian hegemony has started a fresh extravaganza of suppression to defeat our valor, every Kashmiri, young and old are duty bound to remain steadfast, wedded to the struggle of martyrs, stay united and follow every program that is announced by the recognized resistance leadership,” they said. JRL hoped that “time of tyranny and oppression is short now and the nation of Kashmir will achieve its desired goal of freedom and right to self-determination.”(KNO)
