Journalists Association condemns Jammu Police’s ‘fake’ FIR against scribe | KNO

Jammu, March 20 (KNO) : The Journalists Association of Jammu & Kashmir has condemned the Jammu Police’s FIR against renowned journalist as ‘reprehensible' “The FIR came after the few disgruntle people having their own vested interest filed a malicious complaint against said journalist,” the statement issued to KNO reads. Journalists body described that Jammu police filed a ‘fake’ FIR vide no 23 dated 20-01-2019 at Gandhi Nagar police station in a haste manner against said journalist to ‘please his bosses’ despite that he had already submitted details of his innocence to the police. The Association said that journalist has not done anything wrong as members of body. “After examining record and going through details of case saw it as an attack on the freedom of the press,” it said and urged Governor Satya Pal Malik to restrain the police from any action in this matter and direction must be given to Police immediately stop harassment against senior journalist in a fake case . “Police must withdraw the said fake case without wasting any time in the best interest of police-journalists relations,” they said, demanding judicial enquiry into the alleged custodial killing of Awantipora school teacher, it said that no civilized society can tolerate such acts. “Custodial killing is a brutality and brutalities are unacceptable in whatever form they are,” they said.(KNO)
