Hundwara, March 28(KNO): A gunfight broke out between militants and the goverment forces in Yaroo, Langate area of Hundwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Thursday.
Officials told KNO that a joint team of army's 30RR, CRPF and SOG cordoned off yaroo after night following inputs about the presence of militants.
They said the militants opened fire after a search party approached the house in which they were hiding. The forces retaliated, leading to a gunfight which was on when last reports came.
Police Sources told KNO that contact has been established with the militants and that an exchange of fire took place around 07: 40 am.
Official sources told KNO that two militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
Meanwhile, In wake of the gunfight, the authorities have suspended internet services in Hundwara and Sopore area
Authorities have also ordered the closure of Handwara Degree college, Higher Secondary school Handwara (both boys and girls), Higher secondary Langate (both boys and girls) today in view of the gunfight.
Meanwhile, Section 144 has been imposed around the gunfight site,” said officials.(KNO)
