SC likely to hear petitions challenging Article 370 today, may get dismissed: Muzaffar Shah Srinagar, April 02 (KNO) : The pleas challenging the Article 370 of constitution of India giving special status to the state of J&K are likely to be heard today by the Supreme court. Awani National Conference chief Muzaffar Ahmad Shah told KNO that the case is listed for today but can only be heard provided the bench goes for a break. "If they continue the hearing of cases then it might not come up," Shah said. He said that that apex court has dismissed such pleas thrice previously and an observation was made earlier that this Article 370 is a permanent feature. "The apex court can dismiss the pleas altogether and there is likelihood that they will be dismissed. It's not an easy matter," Shah said. The ANC chief said that if SC decides to hear this case then they are bound to constitute a constitutional bench for it. "Petition challenging the recently issued presidential order that made some changes in Article 35A will come up for hearing anytime from Monday next week," he said. The petition was filed by the ANC. The petitions challenging Article 370, sources said, figures at item number 5 in the miscellaneous list for today before a bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Sanjiv Khanna.(KNO)
