Officials say all measures taken to ensure incident free polling

Srinagar, April 09 (KNO) : A multi-tier security arrangements have been made for the first phase of Lok Sabha poll on April 11 in three northern districts - Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora while as all the district headquarters were going to polls have been put on a high alert to ensure incident free polling, top security officials told KNO on Tuesday. A top security officer, wishing not to be named said that in the constituency that has a total 1,749 polling stations at 1,387 locations, special security arrangements have been put in place. He said that at some polling stations two sections of security forces will be deployed while some will have more. “Super-sensitive, sensitive and vulnerable polling stations have been identified and the security deployment plan has been made accordingly. Area domination and night patrolling has been intensified as the dates are very close,” the officer told KNO, wishing not to be named. He said that various measures to check militants' activities in the three districts have also been taken. “Arrangements have been made in such a way that a congenial environment is created for peaceful elections," he said. “We have strengthened the security grid and there is a great synergy between different security agencies.” The officer said that area domination has already between carried out. “Joint parties of security forces that included army carry out regular patrolling to keep the inimical elements at bay,” he said, adding that additional forces have kept in seven educational institutions and are being distributed for election duty. In the Baramulla parliamentary constituency, there are nine candidates in fray but it is going to be the triangular contest among Muhammad Akbar Lone of National Conference, Raja Aijaz Ali of Peoples Conference and Abdul Qayoom Wani of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Sources told KNO that poling staff will reach the respective polling stations by Wednesday evening while as polling material has already reached the respective polling booths in all three poll-bound districts.(KNO)
