Jammu, April 11 (KNO): Thousands of displaced Kashmiri Pandits residing in different places across the country failed to cast the ballots during the first phase of election for Kashmiris District Baramulla- Kupwara parliamentary constituency on Thursday.
Sources told KNO that in spite of having filed up M-forms as per the requisite norms for migrant voters to exercise their franchise outside the Valley, the Kashmiri Pandits could not trace their names in the voter book list.
KP migrants alleged that it was a deliberate attempt that the number of KP migrants were restrained from right to vote, saying that several numbers of voters have figured with wrong insertion in their names or parentage was difficult task for a voter to identify himself or herself before the polling day authorities.
Moreover, it has been also been noticed by them that online serial number of migrant voters were not matching up with those of hand book list that was available within polling stations.
The process of such type of franchise though was taken more time for Migrant voters to trace their names from the list and use of precious time could not found approachable positively in favour of number of voters found themselves in missing list.
Sources revealed to KNO that a large number of voters returned back to their homes as they could not trace their names in the list of recognized registries
Outside the polling station at Jagti Township, a citizen told KNO that due to find fondness process, a number of old age voters could not stand up in queue for several hours in this summer zone area and finally returned back to their homes devoid of cast their votes.
Official sources said that polling places were professionally organized in order to ensure the smooth and conduct the elections but during the process only those voters were allowed to cast their votes who are registered and confirmed in list of hand books is made available within them.
The preliminary reports confirmed that four polling booths were arranged within the jurisdictions of Nagrota area for Kashmiri migrants displaced community voters to cast their votes during the first phase of parliamentary election get held on Thursday.
Sources said that more than 220 voters were registered within polling station at Govt Migrant HSS Nagrota and around 208 voters were registered at polling booth Govt migrant middle School Jagti Township, similarly 939 and 763 voters were registered within other two polling booths positioned at Government Hr. Sr School at Jagti for migrant to exercise their franchise opportunities.
Meanwhile, around more than 60 percent turnout recorded in Nagrota jurisdiction till 6 pm out of registered votes only.(KNO)
