Baramulla, April 22 (KNO) : Up in arms against the official apathy, residents of Zehanpora village are concerned over the lack of basic facilities including proper roads and public distribution store. The population of nearly five thousand people in villages including Kachadari Chack and Zehanpora blamed the successive governments for their sufferings.
“We are more than three kilometres away from the main highway and from there we are being forced to walk by foot due to the bad roads, as the road was mended years ago. The passengers vehicle drivers refuse to ply on the bad roads,” Abdul Hamid Shah, a local said to KNO.
Residents said that they are promised by successive governments before elections that they will be facilitated with the basic needs but nothing was done in practical. They blamed the concerned authorities for their sufferings.
They told KNO that the road which was to be macadamized previous year is yet to be mended even has worse condition than before. Executive Engineer R&B department Boniyar, Imtiyaz Ahmad told KNO that macadamization of 2.5 kilometres road in respective village was allotted of year 2018 work but could not be completed due to the government fall.
“The funds were being allotted from Chief Minister’s funds scheme but due to the end of government, the process could not take place,” Imtiyaz told KNO. He said that work is under consideration and will be completed till July this year.
Bilal Ahmad Naiko, a resident said that they face bundle of problems due the lack of basic facilities, even there is no official store in the chack, kachadari villages of Boniyar Tehsil. “We manage the store on our own expenses which is in a rented accommodation,” Naiko said.
The residents said, “The village has seen the kerosene oil sold out in the store ten months back since then the village is out of this facility, either it is sold black market or on the personal privileges.” Tehsil Supplying Officer (TSO) Baramulla, Mohammad Yousaf told KNO that the department has only one public store and also one store which not government is rented since the area is vast people on there could be some loopholes.
“Department provides the all material including rice, flour, sugar but without kerosene oil, although it is distributed in the area by the Boniyar block A,” Yousaf told KNO. Citing the ten month break in providing kerosene oil as a loophole in the distribution, he assured that the matter will be sorted out and discussed with the higher ups, so that the public could be served best.
