Sopore, April 26 (KNO) : A look at flood like situation in a government primary school in Lald area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district is putting a question mark over the tall claims of education department over better facilities and infrastructure to the students in government-run-schools.

The lawn of the school is flooded with the muddy water, thus pushing the parents to enroll their wards in other schools. This apathy if continues, will led to the closure of schools here, locals said. They told KNO that students as well as parents are afraid to visit and seek admission in the school due to the worst infrastructure and present condition. Back in November 2018, the schools got inundated, but the concerned official didn’t bother to remove the muddy water from the school, thus posing health risk to the students.

The building of the school is also in shambles while as the rainfall further worse condition, as the threat of collapsing of building looms among the students as well as teachers. School staff and students of Primary School appealed government to grant the basic facilities for school and to rebuild the building. Students told KNO they face tremendous hardships in winters. “We don’t have roads to enter the campus. The lawns are inundated, causing foul smell, thus leaving us to lurch at large,” they said.

A local resident told KNO that they took the matter with higher ups and Block Development Officer (BDO), but all in vain. Zonal Educational Officer (ZEO) Sopore, Fahmeeda told KNO that she has assumed the charge recently and has no information in this regard. However, she said the she will take up this matter with Education Officers and the matter will be resolved soon. Meanwhile, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla was not available for the comments.(KNO)
