Shopian gunfight: After initial exchange of firing, militants managed to escape | KNO

Shopian, May 21 (KNO): After initial exchange of firing between government forces and militants in the dense woods of Keller area of Shopian, there was a lull on both sides for many hours. An official told KNO that on specific inputs about the presence of militants in forests of Yawran area of Keller in South Kashmir's Shopian district, a joint team of forces including 44 paras launched search operation in the area. On intensifying search operation towards suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon forces, triggering encounter, he said. However, after searching for many hours nothing was found, after which operation was called off, he said. Soon after the news of encounter, clashes also erupt in the area.(KNO)
