Srinagar, May 30 (KNO) : Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani appealed people to observe the last Friday of Ramadan as “Palestine and Kashmir Day”. Geelani as per a statement issued to KNO appealed to the organization of Islamic countries to ponder on the present critical political scenario at international level and chalk out an effective strategy to address the challenges faced by the Muslim community at internal and external fronts. He said both Palestine and Kashmiri people have suffered too much since their long subjugation. Condemning the despotic and tyrannical methods of governance adopted by the regimes in Palestine and Kashmir, he said that “both India and Israel are in close relation to suppress the legitimate and popular voice of the people of both regions.” He urged the world community to shun their silence on the inhuman atrocities, killings in both these regions and help resolve both long pending issues recognized by United Nations Organizations. He appealed whole Muslim world to pray for the free Kashmir and Palestine on the eve of Friday prayers. Meanwhile, Geelani condemned the use of force at several places of South Kashmir and the ruthless killings of a civilian youth Sajad Ahmad Parray of Buderhama Shopian at the hands of Indian occupation forces. Paying tributes to the deceased youth, Geelani expressed his deep grief and heartiest condolences with the bereaved family. He also lauded the commitment and steadfastness displayed by the senior Hurriyat leader Masarat Aalam Bhat all along his detention period. Condemned slapping of 38th Public Safety Act against the incarcerated leader, he said that it is a sheer political vengeance and a vile act of trampling the freedom of expression and civil liberty of a renowned political leader, like Masrat Aalam Bhat. He expressed his full confidence that these brazen and illegal methods used to prolong the detention of Masrat Aalam Bhat shall not deter him from the ongoing freedom movement.(KNO)
