One militant killed in Pulwama encounter; Clashes erupt near encounter site | KNO

Pulwama, June 06 (KNO) : One militant was killed on Thursday in an initial exchange of fire during an encounter with government forces in Panjran village of Pulwama district. Earlier an encounter broke out between government forces and militants in Panjren area of Pulwama district. An official told KNO that encounter started after a cordon-and-search operation was launched by a joint team of Army’s 44 RR and SOG Lassipora in Panjran village of Pulwama district. The cordon-and-search operation was launched after the security forces received specific inputs that some militants were hiding in the area. As forces zeroed towards the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter, he said. "One militant body along with weapon has been recovered in the area and search operation is going on as two more militants are believed to be trapped," police sources told KNO.  Meanwhile clashes have erupted between government forces and youth near encounter site.
