‘We are certain only one militant carried out attack, move aimed to disturb local temperature’

Srinagar, June 13 (KNO) : Advisor to Governor SP Malik—K Vijay Kumar Thursday said that there was no security lapse in Anantnag fidayeen attack and that the security agencies will fine tune the security strategy for the upcoming Amarnath pilgrimage starting from July 1 from South Kashmir and Central Kashmir routes. “No security lapse was there in Anantnag attack. An opportunity lies with the first blaze. The attack was repulsed within ten minutes and the attacker was gunned down at a public place where transport movement was also high,” Kumar told reporters on the sidelines of wreath laying ceremony of five slain CRPF men at STC Humhama where all the senior officers of Police and CRPF had assembly to pray floral tributes to those killed that include two ASI rank officers and three others. Station House Officer of Saddar police station Anantnag who sustained bullet injury in his chest and was admitted in army’s 92 base hospital in Srinagar was today airlifted to New Delhi for advanced treatment, reliable sources told KNO. Replying to a query whether Al-Umar was behind the attack, the advisor Kumar said that they have claimed the responsibility and “we will ascertain the authenticity of their claims. We are at it.” He said while framing the security plan for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, all the angles will be kept in mind—the past and the recent attacks. “We will take sufficient precautions for the Yatra plan,” he said. Advisor Kumar said that everybody has appreciated the successful anti militancy operations and the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the Valley, but some people are being sent from across who want to disturb the local temperature here. “But we are resonate and ready to foil all such designs,” he said. Anantnag attack was second major move by militants after February 14 Lethpora, Pulwama suicide attack that left 40 CRPF men dead and dozens injured. The incident has once again sent the entire security grid into a tizzy across Kashmir with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba seeking back to back reports on the post-attack scenario in Kashmir so that necessary steps are taken to prevent such attacks in future. Sources told KNO that intelligence agencies are working hard to find out whether Al-Umar has been resurrected or it was used as a proxy by some militant group to create confusion etc. Advisor Kumar also ruled out the possibility of involvement of any other militant in the attack stating that there is certainty that only one militant was involved in the act, who was gunned down.(KNO)
