Budgam Gunfight: Militant killed internet snapped, Clashes erupted | KNO

Budgam, June 28 (KNO) : One militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight which broke out between militants and government forces at Gund Checkpora area of Kanipora Nowgam in Central Kashmir's Budgam District on Friday morning. Reports reaching to KNO said that one militant has been killed in ongoing operation. The dead body of slain militant has not been recovered yet. The officer further said that the operation is still on. Official Sources told KNO that after receiving input about presence of militants in the area joint team of army’s 50 RR, SOG Budgam and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at Gund Checkpora area of Kanipora Nowgam in Central Kashmir's Budgam in friday predawn hours. As the joint team of forces zeroed in the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon the forces triggering an encounter. Sources also confirmed to KNO that exchange of firing is on with the hiding militants. However clashes erupted between youth and government forces near a gunfight site in Panjran area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday. Locals said that scores of youth hit the streets and pelted stones on government forces near the gunfight site. Preliminary reports suggested two or three believed to be trapped. However, there is no official confirmation on the number of militants hiding or their affiliation. Authorities suspended Mobile Internet services in Budgam for precautionary measures.(KNO)
