Pak resident's body recovered in Kishanganga river, lied in the Gurez Hospital | KNO

Family urges authorities to return body; we will act accordingly admin

Srinagar, July 09 (KNO) : A body of a seven-year old boy was recovered from Kishanganga River near Achoora Sindiyal area of Gurez Valley in Bandipora district on Tuesday. Officials told KNO that some locals spotted a body floating on the Kishanganga River near Achoora Sindiyal area of Gurez valley and accordingly informed the police about it. A police team rushed to the spot and retrieved the body from the Kishanganga River with the help of locals, Station House Officer (SHO) Gurez Tariq Ahmad told KNO. The body has been taken to Gurez hospital for medico-legal formalities. The deceased was identified as Abid Ahmad Sheikh, son of Nazir Ahmad Sheikh and is believed to be the resident of Minimarg Astoor area of Gilgit Balochistan of Pakistan. Sources told KNO that he had gone missing while returning from School. They said that it is suspected that he may have slipped and fallen in a tributary of Kishan Ganga River. In a video message accessed by KNO, the family of the deceased have appealed the Prime Minister of the country Imran Khan to help them in bringing the dead body of their son back to home. It is the LoC but from last 5 decades it is been a line of conflict between the two countries. Recently same borders were used for airstrike between the countries. Meanwhile, dead body of boy is lied in the Gurez Hospital and the confirmation from the government is yet to receive. However, locals of the region has launched a social media campaign appealing both the countries to facilitate in bringing the body back to Gilgit on humanitarian grounds. While contacting the local administration they said that once they will get the clarification about the incident and confirmation from the authorities action will be taken accordingly.(KNO)
