Srinagar, July 29 (KNO) : Amid serious apprehensions that article 35-A was going to be scrapped, fake orders and rumours are taking the social media by a storm with police top brass stating that people need not to pay heed to rumours. Interestingly, the security advisor to Governor SP Malik, Vijay Kumar said that the government can’t take action against every user on social media spreading fake news or promoting rumours but “it will look into the issue in its own way.” According to KNO, the first order that took the social media by a storm and gave birth to strong rumours that article 35 A was being rolled back was the deployment of additional 10,000 security forces personnel. The order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs wasn’t fake and it was acknowledged by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) law and order, security, Munir Khan, who termed it as a routine exercise to replace the existing companies who were brought in when Muncipal and Panchayat polls were held in the State. Another order that triggered massive debate on the social sites was Railway Protection Force (RPF’s) order that stated its men should take extra measures by depositing ration in advance, store drinking water for a week and keep the vehicles of employees in safe parking in view of the inputs of deteriorating law and order situation in Kashmir. The order, was however, termed fake by the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh, who urged people to maintain calm and not to give ear to the fake rumours, orders stating that police will take strict action against the rumour mongers. In yet another order about profiling mosques in Srinagar district, panic gripped all Imams of city masjids as an order seeking details of number of masjids in Srinagar, their Imams and managing bodies. The police later clarified that the order was for modifying the data at police station levels and that it had nothing to do with the Article 35 A. “We always keep the data updated. Getting details about mosques is a routing policing exercising nothing else,” a top police officer told KNO. Governor S P Malik’s Advisor Vijay Kumar said that it was not possible to act against each user spreading rumours on the social media, but the government will act it its own way. “We will look into it,” he told reporters in Srinagar. Meanwhile, BJP’s Core Group meeting in New Delhi has not Article 35 A on its agenda, said BJP General Secretary (organization) Ashok Koul. “We are going to participate in BJP’s core group meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday. Our primary agenda is de-limitation commission and not the Article 35 A. We will also finalise our strategy for the Assembly polls. We are ready to face the elections,” Koul told KNO.(KNO)
