Baramulla, August 01 (KNO) : The residents of Chanderhama village in Pattan area of Baramulla district expressed concerned over the lack of potable water facility in their area. The aggrieved residents staged protest against Public Health Engineering (PHE) department over non-availability of potable water in the area for years.
Three hundred households with a total population of three thousand people have no potable water supply for years, the locals told KNO. A village Head (sarpanch) of village while talking to KNO said that “we have been left on god’s mercy despite approaching the PHE department several times.”
She said that the womenfolk were being forced to walk miles to fetch water from a channel (Nallah) to quench thirsty. Another local, part of the protest said that, they are forced to consume muddy water and are being deprived of potable water.
They said that no water scheme has been provided to the village. The local residents demanded immediate intervention of higher authorities for resolving the issue. “We urge Governor Administration to look into the matter.”
Chief Engineer PHE department, Abdul Wahid told KNO that they will direct the official to provide water supply to the village. (KNO)
