Except Shops, everything normal in Kashmir: J&K Police |KNO

Miscreants spreading false rumours to create atmosphere of fear; many people arrested for pasting posters, CFV’s a routine matter, says ADGP Munir Khan

Srinagar, Sep 21 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday barring shops, life across Kashmir has resumed to normal and that in some areas shops remain open in morning and evening hours. It also said that those issuing threats to shop keepers will be dealt with strictly while as there was no threat was issued by militants in any part of Srinagar and the rumour was baseless in this regard. Talking exclusively to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order, Security, Munir Khan said that except shops, all other sectors are functioning normally. “Even shops remain open in some parts of Srinagar and elsewhere in morning and evening hours,” Khan said. “We hope that very soon, shops too will be re-open across Kashmir.” He said that life is returning to normal gradually across Kashmir. On the reports of threats issued by unknown gunmen to shopkeepers in Srinagar, the ADGP Khan said that no such report was received from any part of city. “This is a baseless report and purely a rumour. There is no authenticity,” he said. The ADGP, however, said that many miscreants, who were spreading rumours by pasting posters in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir have been detained and are being dealt with sternly. “Miscreants are spreading false rumours to create an atmosphere of fear and they have been taken care of,” he said. On the Cease Fire Violations taking place on the LoC especially, he said that it was a routine affair on the LoC post August 5. “We are taking care of the people who have got affected by the continuous shelling,” the top police officer told KNO. Pertinently, in his recent press conference, General officer Commanding (GoC) of Srinagar –based 15 Corps Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon said that there has been an increase in the number of CFVs along the LoC and International Border. Kashmir has been under a tight grip of uncertainty post abrogation of Article 370 as the normal life has got badly affected with all the sectors shut while as internet has been completely suspended.
