Srinagar, Mar 23 (KNO): Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) JK spokesman Altaf Thakur on Monday urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration led by Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandera Murmu to set up a “specialized single quarantine facility centre” in both regions of Kashmir and Jammu where suspects of Covid-19 can be quarantined. Thakur said that Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendera Singh has recently announced that all the equipment that J&K government needs to fight spread of Caronavirus will be provided including ventilators and thermal suits and that health department should procure all the possible equipment on fast track basis. In a statement issued here to wire service—Kashmir News Observer(KNO), Thakur said that since administration has set up series of quarantine facility centres across Kashmir and Jammu which in a way has led to chaos on ground. “My humble appeal to the government is to identify a five star hotel or a building or a separate building which can be converted into a modernized quarantine and isolation centre for the travelers and suspects can be kept and treated as well,” the BJP leader said, adding that this will help keep the passengers and suspects at a one particular place rather than keeping them in various hotels and lodges across Kashmir and Jammu. Thakur said that though Central Government through its MoS PMO Dr Singh has made very clear that J&K health department that all the possible from Centre will be provided and that whatever is needed in this hour of challenge will be granted on fast track basis. Thakur said that the officials of health department and the heads of all leading hospitals including SKIMS, SMHS, SMGHS and other associated hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir, must finalise the list of items and equipment they need and forward the same to MoS PMO for immediate procurement especially thermal dresses for hospital staff including doctors, masks, sanitizers, gowns and other things including ventilators. Thakur called for collective efforts of people in fighting the deadly disease that has claimed above 10000 lives globally and left over 2.5 lakh affected since January this year. He said its time to stay united and to maintain social distancing and to keep ourselves clean—(KNO)
