Srinagar, Mar 27 (KNO): Army on Friday said that it has instituted a host of measures in Kashmir and is constantly taking initiatives to educate and sensitize the people and assist the civil administration to contain the spread of deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19). In a statement issued to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Army said that to contain the spread of the pandemic in Kashmir, it has once again based on the requirement projected by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), in close coordination with the Air Force arranged for 150 Knapsack Mechanised Boom Sprayers and an additional 2,000 litres of QAC to be airlifted from Surat to Srinagar. “This will not only enable the civil administration to effectively combat the threat of the pandemic, but will ensure that they are empowered to protect the people of Kashmir,” Army said. Meanwhile, the separate statement issued here claimed that Army distributed rations among the daily wage earners, migrant workers and the needy. Considering the lockdown announced by the Govt to avoid spreading of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), the Army came forward to help the disadvantaged sustain the lockdown with minimum problems. “This initiative is being undertaken throughout the Valley at grassroots level to ensure the well being of the people. Hundreds of persons were benefitted, and many more will be reached out to in the coming days, Army said. In another continuing initiative by the Army, posters and leaflets containing various advisories and precautionary measures are being posted throughout the Kashmir Valley. “These will help educate the masses and safeguard them from the possibility of inadvertently becoming carriers of the disease,” the statement reads, adding that these initiatives in such trying times by Army will bring much required relief to the deprived as also safeguard the people –(KNO)
