Hajin in Bandipora turns into ‘ghost town’ after reporting 10 Covid positive cases | KNO

Hajin/Bandipora, Mar 31(KNO): Authorities on Tuesday intensified curbs on the movement and assembly of public, including at religious places to prevent spread of deadly coronavirus pandemic in Hajin area of Bandipora district, after ten COVID-19 positive cases were reported from the area sine past four days. According to wire service-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), locals said, that the admin closed all major Masjids including the ‘shrine at Khankha-Masjid, Mir-Mohalla, and other local masjids to stop people from offering five times prayers there and prevent coronavirus spread. The Admin imposed complete lockdown while people also remained indoors to keep themselves away from the COVID-19 which claimed the two lives in Kashmir earlier, they said. They said, the large contingents of forces comprising Police and paramilitary CRPF sealed all the local routes of Hajin and Suderkoot-Bala and intersections to enforce restrictions on the movement of vehicles, and break the chain of the deadly virus spread. "We have left everything to our God, he will save us from this deadly Coronavirus disease, and we will fully support the district administration, until this disease will end in our area," locals told KNO on phone. The patients who were tested positive for the deadly virus belong to Parrey Mohalla, Parr Mohalla, Banger Mohalla, Bonikhan Mohalla and Suderkoot areas of Hajin and today afternoon two more positive Covid-19 were reported from the same area. A police official told-KNO, that there would be no inward and outward movement of any person from the villages declared as Red zone and the people would stay inside their homes to ensure complete lockdown. He also warned of stern action against violators as per provision of relevant Acts. He said, the government vehicles, police, ambulances, and government staff involved in efforts against COVID-19 and staff of other emergency services have been exempted from such curbs in the area. He further stated, that police have booked at least three dozen people since past three days for violating the government orders, adding that a case under section of relevant laws was registered against them. Early morning, municipal committee Hajin started massive sanitisation drive in the area, which the admin has already termed as Red zone areas. An official of, MC Hajin said that fresh drive was launched in view of the two fresh cases. Meanwhile, District Administration Bandipora and SSP Bandipora, have again appealed the people in Bandipora to stay home and inform about travel history. Pertinently, at least 70 persons who came in contact with the four covid-19 positive patients, have been shifted to quarantine centres in Hajin—(KNO)
