Stranded pregnant lady in Gurez awaits evacuation as road to Bandipora remains closed | KNO

Gurez, Apr 01(KNO): A stranded pregnant lady in snow-bound Gurez valley of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district is awaiting evacuation as the 84km-long Bandipora-Gurez continues to remains closed for the last more than three months now. According to wire service-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), family members of a pregnant lady on Tuesday appealed the district administration to airlift her as the road remains closed due to heavy accumulation of snow on Razdan pass. They said that the ailing pregnant lady was admitted at SDH Gurez three days ago but her condition was worsening with each passing day as the hospital lacks advanced facilities. The family members said that the lady is about to give birth to a baby but her condition was worsening and needs to be evacuated immediately to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment. The family members in a video clip appealed the district administration to immediately airlift the patient as the roads remains closed and they were helpless. They alleged that they have so for not received any response from the district administration in evacuating the pregnant lady from snow bound Gurez valley. As per KNO, the lady has been identified as Zoituna Begum (36) wife of Farooq Ahmad Lone, a resident of Purana Tulail of Gurez. Despite repeated attempts Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Bandipora, Tajamul Hussain could not be contacted for the comments as he didn’t respond to the repeated phone calls. The 84-km-long Bandipora-Gurez road remains closed for winter months as the area receives heavy snowfall. The road was closed last in December, 2019 following heavy snowfall in Gurez and at Razdan Pass—(KNO)
