Feb 15 Gurez avalanche: Body of missing man recovered after 47 days | KNO

Gurez, Apr 02 (KNO): The body of a man was Thursday found over a month after he went missing when an avalanche hit Chak Nallah area of Gurez on February 15 this year. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the body of Javid Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Aziz Lone of Dangithal village in Tulail was recovered from Kishen Ganga river near Markoot village today morning. An official told –KNO that police and medical team has reached the spot after locals informed them. Javid had gone missing after an avalanche hit Chak Nallah area of Gurez on February 15, burying him alive. Later, the administration launched a massive search and rescue operation to trace the missing person but even after persistent efforts, they failed to trace him. Administration had also roped in a special SDRF team to trace Javid's body but they too failed and on February 26, the rescue operation was called off—(KNO)
