Covid-19: 17 persons test positive, highest in a day since Pandemic outbreak in J&K | KNO

Toll reaches 92, of new cases, 14 from Valley, 3 from Jammu region, 10-Yr-Old girl with high viral load tests negative at JLNM, 6 positive cases recover at CD hospital, fresh samples taken, Sgr alone records 27 cases

Srinagar, Apr 04 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Saturday registered 17 positive cases for Covid-19, the highest since the outbreak of pandemic in the Union Territory on March 18. Among 17 cases, who were tested positive, 14 from Kashmir division and 03 from Jammu division taking the toll of total positive cases to 92 including two deaths and three recoveries.  Officials said Srinagar district alone records 27 positive cases. Officials told wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that among 17 cases three are from Narsoo Udhampur, six are from Kupwara, four from Bandipora, three from Baramulla and one from Pulwama. Pertinently, since March 09 when first case of coronavirus was tested positive in J&K, 17 is the highest number of cases tested positive in a single day. On April 03, five patients were tested positive, four from Kashmir and one from Jammu. On April 02, eight patients were tested positive including three from Kashmir division while as five were Jammu division and on April 1, seven cases were tested positive in J&K. On March 31, six patients all from Kashmir division were tested positive while as on March 30, 11 patients were tested positive including three from Jammu and eight from Kashmir.  On March 29, five patients from Kashmir division were tested positive while as on March 28, 12 patients including nine from Kashmir division and three Jammu division were texted positive.  On March 27, six patients including four from Kashmir division and two from Jammu division were tested positive while as on 26 March three patients two from Kashmir division and one from Jammu division were tested positive. Similarly, on March 25, four patients from Kashmir division were tested positive and on March 24, three patients from Kashmir division were tested positive. On March 18, first positive case was confirmed in Kashmir division while as in Jammu first case was confirmed on March 9 followed by two cases, each on March 13 and March 16, respectively. Head of Department Chest Disease Hospital Srinagar, Dr Naveed Nazir Shah told—KNO that 19 positive patients are admitted at CD hospital and among them, seven have been tested negative so far.  He said that tests of these patients will be repeated once again in 24 hours and if it comes negative again, then we can say patients have recovered completely. Dr Tabasum Deputy Medical Superintendent JLNM Hospital Srinagar, she said that at present 9 positive patients are undergoing treatment at JLNM hospital who all are responding well and recovering. Fortunately, a ten-year-old girl, who was admitted with high viral load on Friday was tested negative, she said. Doctors at SKIMS said ten more patients with symptoms of Covid-19 were admitted at Institute today. They said that 22 positive patients are undergoing treatment at SKIMS in isolation ward while as one has been discharged.  They added that so far 392 tests were conducted in Microbiology Lab SKIMS, among them 37 have been tested positive while as 355 have been tested negative. Medical Superintendent District hospital Pulwama Dr Jameel Ahmad Mir told KNO that among the reports received today, one has been tested positive while as more 18 samples were taken today and sent for reports. As per the government figures the total number of positive cases across the Jammu and Kashmir has mounted to 92. As per the daily information bulletin 28545 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 10606 persons have kept under home quarantine. According to the bulletin, 4376 persons have completed surveillance period and 12795 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far 1397 number of samples have been collected for test of Covid-19. Out of 1397 ,1250  samples have been tested negative while as 92 have been tested positive among them four including three from Jammu division and one from Kashmir division have recovered and two positive patients from Kashmir division have died, besides that reports of 55 samples are yet to come—(KNO)
