COVID-19: Fear grips Kupwara as 6 test positive in single day | KNO

Kupwara, Apr 04 (KNO): Weeks after union territory of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed surge in number of positive cases, Kupwara district in north Kashmir Saturday reported six cases in a single day creating fear among the local residents. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), official said in a single day six suspects under quarantine tested positive for novel Coronavirus on Saturday. A medical official said that six suspects have tested positive for novel coronavirus who were under quarantine for several days and as part of protocol after they showed symptoms samples were sent for tests and all of them have tested positive on Saturday. All the positive cases were undergoing their quarantine period but as their symptoms grew related to Coronavirus samples were collected which turned positive Saturday. Among the six positive cases there are three male and three females and out of six, four persons were quarantined at ITI Handwara since their return from Delhi while one person was quarantined at Tangdhar and the sixth was quarantined in Bandipora since his return from Delhi and had not visited Kupwara since then, officials said. Officials said all of them have history of stay at Markaz Nizamuddin Delhi, were already under quarantine as per protocol since their return from Delhi. The officials furthermore said that the contact tracing is being carried out on a war footing, the positive patients belong to Magam (1) , Chougal (1), Hirri (3), Tangdhar (1). Nodal officer for COVID-19 in Kupwara Nazir Ahmad told KNO that the positive patients haven't visited their native places so far and the areas with positive cases won't be declared red zone, though the administration will have a look into the quarantine centers and take proper measures to contain the transmission. Meanwhile, the residents of Kupwara are gripped with immense fear after Kupwara reported first cases of novel coronavirus that too a couple of cases single day—(KNO)
