Srinagar, Apr 04 (KNO): Normal life across Jammu and Kashmir continued to remain affected die to the lockdown for the 16th straight day on Saturday in wake of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic with people preferring to stay indoors.
According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the police and paramilitary troopers continued to remain deployed on the roads to enforce the restrictions here. Witnesses said that the forces deployed since the wee morning hours on roads had erected concertina wires, thus halting the vehicular as well as pedestrians’ movement.
The restrictions were imposed by the government to prevent the virus from spreading. It is worth to mention here that 92 positive cases have been detected in Jammu and Kashmir so far while two among them have died and four others recovered.
Many people have so far been booked by the concerned authorities for violating the government’s prohibitory orders. Police officials said that in Srinagar, many shopkeepers were arrested especially from Habba Kadal area after they were found violating the government orders under section 144 CrPc.
Besides, four shops were also sealed by the Tehsildar in Bandipora district of northern Kashmir today after they were found violating the government orders.
Moreover, the situation was similar in Jammu region where strict restrictions remained in place and people preferred to stay indoors throughout the day.
Officials said that a large number of people returning from outside areas were also intercepted by police naka points as well as other teams of government and were put to quarantine centers—(KNO)
