‘12 families evacuated to safer places from landslide hit area’

Rajouri, April 05 (KNO): At least two residential structures got damaged whereas 12 families have been evacuated after massive landslide hit Kandi village of Kotranka tehsil in Rajouri district Sunday evening. As per wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), 12 families residing in the landslide hit area have been evacuated by authorities so far as their residential structures are falling in “slide prone zone.”  Locals said that Sunday morning, a strong landslide hit the residential house triggering panic in the area. “A fresh slide took place on Sunday morning when around 40 kanals of land got affected due to slide damaging two houses also,” they said. "A total of 12 families have been evacuated from the area and shifted to safer places,” the locals said, adding that rescue operation was launched soon after the information of slide was received. " So far no loss of life took place.” "Rainfall in next few days can further trigger the slide,” said an official, adding that huge portion of agriculture land, fruit crop has got damaged in the slide so far.  Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Muhammad Nazir Sheikh said that relief material in the form of tents and other allied material have been provided to the families as immediate help for affected families. " We will ensure every possible help to the affected families. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kotranka have also been asked to submit a detailed loss report by tomorrow." said Deputy Commissioner,” the DC said—(KNO) (File Photo Use)
