Srinagar, April 08 (KNO): Kashmir’s Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam on Wednesday said that people should recite quran and fateh for their deceased in their homes tonight and that there is no need to go to graveyards given the present circumstances when pandemic is at its peak.

He urged the people to utilize the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Baraat (night of absolution) and repent for their sins from their homes. Talking to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Islam said that Covid-19 is spreading fast in Kashmir and its time to maintain social distance.

“Though going to graveyards on the night of 14th of Shabaan is proven in Hadith, but given the present circumstances, people of Kashmir to stay at their homes and recite quran and send fatiah for their loved ones who have passed away,” he said.

The Grand Mufti also reiterated that Imams and Khateebs should recite prayers for repentance (Touba-e-Istigfaar) after maghrib prayers and seek Allah’s refuge and mercy from the present pandemic and with moist eyes plead before Allah to shower his blessings on the people of Kashmir—(KNO)
