Covid-19: Police files case against people who participated in slain JeM Commander’s funeral | KNO

Sopore, Apr 08 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday evening registered a case against those who participated in the funeral of slain Jaish-e-Muhammad Commander at Arampora, Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district stating that people who assembled for funeral violated guidelines that call for maintaining social distance in view of Covid-19 outbreak.    

A police official told wire service —Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a case has been registered against people who gathered at the funeral of Jaish e Mohammad (JeM) commander Sajad Nawab Dar, who was killed in an encounter at Arampora, Sopore. Police in a statement issued to KNO said that Sopore police has a registered a FIR under relevant sections against the persons who gathered  at the funeral of JeM  commander violating the Covid -19 protocols and government advisories regarding the social gathering.

Police said that the  legal heirs of the slain militant had given in writing that they will adhere to social distancing when the body was handed over to them after completing medico- legal formalities. Sopore police said  a case under FIR number 70/2020 US 188 IPC has been registered and the investigation is set into motion. “Defaulters will dealt strictly as per law,” the police said as per KNO. As per eye-witnesses, hundreds of people had assembled for the funeral of slain JeM commander despite lockdown and section 144 which prohibits assembly of more than four persons, in place—(KNO)
