Gunfight on at Nawa Kadal area of downtown, Sgr | KNO

After initial exchange, no fresh  firing

Srinagar, May 19 (KNO): An encounter has started between government forces in Nawa Kadal area of old city Srinagar, police said. Police sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that an encounter starter after a contact was established after a mid-night cordon was launched. Kashmir zone police also confirmed on its twitter handle that a gunfight has started in Nawa Kadal area of city. A top police officer said that a gunfight is on in Nawa Kadal area of city. This is after a long lull of almost two years that a gunfight has  been witnessed in Srinagar. Police sources told KNO that after initial contact and exchange of firing, an explosion took place after which there was no firing—(KNO)   Further details awaited
