Anganwadi Centers at Athwajan, Sempora, Pandhrethan, Patha Chowk doing excellent job, say locals | KNO

Whatever Govt supply these centers received, distributed among kids on time always, workers, helpers doing commendable job, say parents

Srinagar, May 29 (KNO): Local residents, whose children are admitted in Anganwadi Centers at Athwajan, Sempora, Pandrethan and Pantha Chowk areas of Srinagar district, Friday hailed the commendable job of Aganwadi workers and helpers in providing timely nutrition and other government supply to the children registered in these centers. The locals of these areas told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the employees of these Centers are working overtime to provide all the supply they get to the children registered with them. “Our children are not regular at these centers these days because of the Covid but we get calls to get the nutritional diet for them. At times Aganwadi workers call us and sometimes they come to our homes asking us to get supplies for our children,” a group of parents at Athwajan, Sempora and Pandrethan told KNO They said that a few Anganwadi workers, even spent their personal money, to ensure timely supplies to the children registered with them. “Despite challenging times of Covid, Aganwadi workers and helpers distributed pulses, cooking oil, turmeric powder, biscuits and other nutritional diet among the children in the past week and also after pandemic outbreak in Kashmir,” said parents of children at Pantha Chowk. They said that they are very thankful to Aganwadi workers who are working tirelessly despite challenging situation triggered by the Covid-19. “The Aganwadi centers are open every day and workers and helpers are working overtime to ensure supplies meant for children reach the kids on time. There is a proper record maintained and proper videos are also available as and when supplies are given to the children through their parents. There are signatures of parents on log book and the register which is maintained, an Anganwadi worker told KNO at Pantha Chowk, Srinagar. Locals of Pantha Chowk, Athwajan,Sempora, and Pandrethan hailed the efforts of Aganwadi workers and helpers in the times of Covid stating that “these women are brave and doing their job in difficult times.”—(KNO)
