CBI files chargesheet against Inspector of JK Police in murder case of his wife | KNO

Jammu, May 29 (KNO): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday filed a chargesheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Jammu against an Inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police in a murder case of his wife.

In a statement issued to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), CBI said that the charge-sheet was filed against an Inspector of JK Police under section 498-A, 304-B of RPC and section 7 r/w 27 (3) of the Arms Act 1959 in a case related to alleged murder of Neha Kumari (wife of accused).

“CBI had registered a case on 26.03.2019 on the orders dated 28.01.2019 of J&K High Court on a petition filed by father of the deceased and taken over the investigation of the case, earlier registered vide FIR 85 of 2018 at Police Station, Pacca Danga, Jammu on the allegations of the death of Neha Kumari in suspicious circumstances on 26.02.2018, due to gunshot injury from the service Pistol of her husband, working as Inspector of J&K Police. Inquest proceedings were carried out by the local police into the incident u/s 174 Cr. PC and thereafter, the FIR was registered on 18.05.2018,” CBI said.

The statement added that CBI investigation conducted including assistance of forensic experts & reconstruction of scene of crime led to the unearthing of the criminal conspiracy behind the murder.

“It was further alleged that the deceased was being subjected to cruelty in relation to demand for dowry and was murdered by her husband by using his service pistol. It was also revealed an alleged conspiracy to manipulate evidence so as to reflect the incident as suicide,” the statement added. It further added that on the basis of evidence gathered during investigation, CBI has arrested the accused on 29.05.2020. “The accused was produced before the CJM, Jammu and remanded to Judicial Custody.

The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial,” it said –(KNO)
