Govt directs divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners to monitor implementation of guidelines/ procedures

Srinagar, June 02 (KNO): The Jammu & Kashmir government has directed divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to monitor implementation of procedures/guidelines governing issuance of domicile certificates in the Union Territory. The Revenue department has directed both divisional commissioners and all deputy commissioners to monitor implementation of the procedures under the Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate Procedure( Rules) 2020. “ The Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate( Procedure) Rules, 2020 have been notified by General Administration Department vide. S.O. 166 of 2020 dated 18 May 2020. All the competent authorities designated under column IV for the issuance of the Domicile Certificate of S.NO/cl. 1,2,3 and 6 of clause 5 of the said Rules shall issue domicile certificate as per the procedure/timelines laid down under the rules,” reads the circular issued by Principal Secretary,Revenue department, Pawan Kotwal, a copy of which is available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Last month, the government notified Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure) Rules, 2020, which specify the conditions and the process to obtain the document which replaced permanent residence certificate. In April this year, the Ministry of Home Affairs reserved all jobs in J&K for its domiciles which includes all those who have resided in the Union Territory for 15 years, or have studied for seven years and appeared in class 10th or 12th examination in an educational institution in the region. Under the law, children of central government employees who have served in Jammu and Kashmir for a total period of 10 years will also be eligible for domicile status—(KNO)
