Rajouri, June 02 (KNO): Authorities in Rajouri district have closed the Government Medical College (GMC) and Associated Hospital except for emergency services till further orders. The decision as per official was taken after a patient referred from the hospital to Jammu medical college was tested positive. Official sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that on Sunday evening, a patient from Rajouri's Sialsui village falling in Kalakote Tehsil was brought in the hospital with some medical issue where he was medically treated and referred to GMC Jammu on the particular day. “In Jammu, as per SOP, his sample was taken, which has come positive,” they said. Confirming the details, District Magistrate Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh said that soon after the patient referred from Rajouri hospital has been tested positive, they have taken all possible steps as per SOP. “Four doctors and some para-medics who treated him have been sent into home quarantine and their samples will also be collected,” DM said. Principal Government Medical College Rajouri, Dr. Kuldeep Singh informed that except for emergency services, the hospital shall remain closed till further orders and fumigation and sanitization of the hospital will be started very soon. DM Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh also said that three persons have been tested positive in the district in last 24 hours. A man from Sialsui with a travel history was tested positive and his report was received in the late evening hours on Monday, he said. “Two more persons have been tested positive on Tuesday including one patient from Sialsui who was referred from Rajouri GMC Associated hospital to Jammu and a woman from a village of Sunderbani Tehsil of Rajouri.” Meanwhile, the authorities in Rajouri and Poonch have declared four areas as red zone after some locals, apparently without any travel history were tested positive for Coronavirus. District Magistrate Rajouri said that a 60-year-old man from Laman area of Sunderbani went to GMC Jammu for medical treatment where he was tested positive on Monday after which Laman area was declared as red zone. Similarly, a woman from Nallah village area of Sunderbani Tehsil in Rajouri district was been tested positive on her arrival at GMC Jammu after which Nallah and Kund and Basian village were declared as red zone. DM Rajouri further said that area of Kalakote Tehsil including Mohra Nangala, Spania Mohra Kha, Palen Ghai, Dadoch Lehri and Mohra Batala of Hidayatpura village of Nowshera Tehsil have been declared as red zone after a man has been tested positive on his arrival at GMC Jammu. “There shall be no inward or outward movement from the red zone areas,” DM Rajouri added. Meanwhile, District Magistrate Poonch, Rahul Yadav said that nine person from the district have been tested positive in the district. “Seven persons hailing from Mandi Tehsil area and having a travel history have been tested positive. All were in administrative quarantine." DM said. He further said that a man from Poonch's Mendhar, who was under treatment in a hospital in Jammu from last many months, have also been tested positive. “A pregnant woman from Jhullas area of Poonch apparently with no travel history, have been tested positive,” DM further informed. DM Poonch further said, "Jhullas panchayat area was declared as red zone and Salotri as buffer zone with no inward and outward movement allowed now." –(KNO)
