Srinagar, June 05 (KNO): Nearly half a dozen employees of Power Development Department (PDD) at division-3 in Srinagar who have got superannuation years ago are allegedly still working in the field while the authorities are acting as mute spectator. The retired employees are generating their income from local populace in the respective areas, sources said. Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that several retired employees of Shireen Bagh division are still active in different localities falling under the jurisdiction. “A few of the employees especially linemen have got superannuation years ago, but they are active in the field and are generating their income from the local population,” sources said. They alleged that the officers concerned are aware about the facts but are taking no action in this regard, adding that the local people who are supposed to get the faults repaired without any cost are being asked to pay through which these employees are generating their income. “These employees are active in several areas falling under the jurisdiction of PDD division-3 Shireen Bagh,” they said, adding that the authorities should verify the matter on their own and should take stern action against the retired employees. Executive Engineer PDD division-3, Ali Muhammad Rather while talking to KNO said that he has not received any such complaint so far. “Nobody has approached me so far in this regard. It is unacceptable if such an event is taking place. I will look into the matter thoroughly and verify the allegations,” he said—(KNO)
