Div Com reviews functioning of Geology & Mining deptt | KNO

Srinagar, June 06 (KNO): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P.K Pole on Saturday presided over an officers meeting convened to review the functioning of Geology and Mining department besides availability of construction material in Kashmir province in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown. The meeting was attended by Chief Engineers of PHE, R&B and PMGSY departments, Managing Director JKPCC, Joint Director Geology and Mining besides officers of I&FC and other concerned departments. On the occasion, threadbare deliberations were held on various aspects and issues including status of minor mineral blocks and e-auction thereof in Kashmir province. The Div Com was briefed about the district wise data through a PowerPoint presentation regarding the number of licensed/unlicensed stone  crushers/ hot and wet mix plants in Kashmir division and district/ mineral wise details of minor mineral blocks. It was given out that there are total 453 stone/ hot wet mix plants in Kashmir including 113 licensed minor mineral based units besides, 178 RBM (River Bed Material) and 77 sand blocks across Kashmir. The Div Com was also appraised regarding the procedure followed in minerals identified, rules governing major and minor minerals deposits, formation of minor mineral blocks in all the districts of Kashmir, e-auctioning, environmental clearances, and initiatives taken against illegal mining –(KNO)
