DDC directs for ensuring adequate supply of potable water in Anantnag | KNO

Taking cognizance of reports regarding the inadequate drinking water supply in some areas of the district, the District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah today convened a meeting of the PHE Department to take detailed stock of the situation.

The DDC directed the Department to ensure the potable water supply availability in the areas facing shortage of the drinking water supply. He urged upon officers to ensure that all resources are mobilised to provide succour to the general public.

          Taking note of the reports of misuse of drinking water for irrigation and other allied purposes, the DDC directed the PHE Department to ensure that the enforcement wing of the Department should ensure that misuse of drinking water for any other purposes is stopped forthwith.

          He also directed for constituting a helpline aiming at addressing the water scarcity issues in the district.

          Meanwhile, the general Public is informed to contact PHE division Bijbehara on 9419043190 and PHE division Qazigund on 9419034010 in case of any drinking water supply issue.

          Besides, the DDC directed for creating mass awareness among the people regarding the judicious utilisation of potable drinking water.

          The meeting was attended by ADC, SE Hydraulic, Exen of Bijbehara and Qazigund divisions, AEEs, AEs and JEs of the PHE department
