Holistic development key to transforming JK economy : Veeri | KNO

Asks DDCs for fixation of freight charges for apple transportation to markets

The Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rehman Veeri today said that holistic development is key for driving economy of State.

 

          He was speaking at a review board meeting of developmental activities under various sectors here at Dak Bungalow, Anantnag.

          The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Mr Mohammad Younis Malik, Principal of GDC Boys Anantnag,   SE’s of R&B,  Hydraulic and PDD , ACR Anantnag CEO’s of PDA, VDA , KDA, SDM’s  of Pahalgam, Dooru  all Tehsildars  and sectoral officers of line departments.

          The Minister asked for status of land acquisition process of different road and developmental projects in the district.

          With respect to R&B sector, the Minister directed for preparation of DPR for connecting Achabal Adda with Mehandi Kadal bye – pass road so that traffic may be diverted through it. Besides, he directed officials to develop a  parking-lot near Mehandi Kadal.

          He also asked SE R&B to prioritise only those works where assured and adequate funds are expected so that they are completed both physically and financially.

          The Minister was also informed that 90% work on Polytechnic College has been completed and the work on Verinag – Kapran road, Seer – Hapat Naad-Aishmuqam road and Sinthan–Kishtwar road is in progress while as overhead bridge at Bijbehara will be completed by the end of this year

          The Minister also sought details about pace of PMGSY in the district and he was informed that land acquisition process for 95 schemes is going on and Ashajipora–Donipawa land acquisition is being surveyed following Chief Minister's intervention.

          It was also informed that JKPCC has completed the construction of Degree Colleges at Kokernag and Utersoo, while as work on GMC Anantnag is going on in full swing.

          Meanwhile, he directed Chief Medical Officer to devise a proper roaster for the night duty of doctors and other paramedics. He was also instructed that health facilities at crucial points need to be monitored on regular basis besides strengthening medical facilities on Highway.

          The ACD was directed to ensure the proper implementation of MGNREGA and other schemes and hold the accountability down the line so that rural economy is boosted through various centrally sponsored schemes.

          Stressing on the role of agriculture in the economy of the state, the Minister asked the officials to promote quality seeds and better agricultural practices.

          He was informed that 150 hectares of land from 13 villages has been taken under Mushk-e-Budji cultivation and all the agriculture zones will be covered for said cultivation this year.

          The minister directed the DDC to ensure the rate fixation of transporters and ensure its strict implementation so that fruit growers do not face any inconvenience in transportation of fruits to markets.

          The Minster exhorted that the performance of the departments shall be measured on the basis of financial performance. He said that departments have to ensure utilization and completion of projects on time.

          Mr Veeri also directed the officers to undertake field inspections and coordinate with other departments for better results.

          It was given out that a CAPEX budget of Rs 205 Crore was approved for the district for 2017-18 out of which Rs 76.11 Cr is the availability from which Rs 56.32 Cr has been expended so far.
