Braid Chopping : People thrash mentally challenged in Pampore | KNO

Locals of Pampore late last evening claimed that they caught three persons who they alleged were Braid choppers at Khankahbagh Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district however one of them later turned to be a mentally challenged person and two common people who were there for some work.

Hundreds of alleged braid choppers were beaten severely before police reached the spot and rescued them, they said.

One of the alleged braid choppers later turned to be a 30-year-old mentally challenged man from Budgam, sources said.
During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that two were from Bemina Srinagar and one from Surasyar Budgan, police said adding the Budgam man is mentally challenged.
“But the locals mistook all the three a braid choppers, caught hold of and thrashed them,” police said.
Police also added that no hair-cutting tools were found in their possession and no hair chopping incident had taken place in the area.
“People are requested not to resort to vigilantism and cooperate with police,” a police officer at the Pampore police station told.
