Referring to State, Geelani said that it is the world’s highly militarised zone, and added that our youth are not safe and young generations while sensing humiliating and barbaric approach towards the women folk, are forced to take extreme steps.

Commenting over the appalling situations, Geelani said that authorities in New Delhi should understand and differentiate between right to self-determination movement and terrorism.

Geelani said that the issue is recognised and accepted by international community and there is no doubt that the movement we pursue is indigenous and local in nature.

Bullying and military might can’t supress our sentiments or break our resolve, said Geelani and urged international community to focus on this issue and take steps for its amicable and lasting resolution.

Peace and tranquillity in sub-continent will remain a distant dream, said Geelani and added that unless the issue is resolved as per aspiration of people of state, uncertainty will haunt the whole sub-continent.

Geelani expressed his deep concern over the unending incidents of braid chopping, saying that information’s received, suggest that these shameful activities are being carried with active support of forces and its agencies.

Geelani said that people and particularly women folk are showing their resentment over these devilish incidents, however local police instead of nabbing the culprits, are using the extreme force against peaceful protestors.

Syed Ali Geelani condemned the braid chopping incidents in Ganderbal, Lolab and other parts of the valley and prayed for the speedy recovery of a minor injured during people’s protest, saying it is extremely unfortunate.

Geelani expressed his anguish over the reports of vandalising properties of brave hearts in Dogripora, Bandna and Begpora and arresting their family members by SOG men and said that it is inhuman, immoral, illogical to drag their families in the confrontation.

Meanwhile Syed Ali Geelani expressed his serious concern over the deteriorating health of Hurriyat leaders including Shabir Ahmed Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Peer Saif-u-ullah, Ayaz Akbar, Meraj u Din Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Nayem Ahmed Khan and Farooq Ahmad Dar.

Syed Ali Geelani cautioned authorities that if anything untoward happens to them, the jail authorities shall have to face serious consequences.

Indian authorities are utilising NIA sleuths to detain Hurriyat leadership and their detention is being prolonged on false allegations, said Geelani and added that these tactics won’t change the ground realities  and status of Kashmir issue.
