According to reports, Mohammad Latief son of Alam-ud-din went to the house of the girl in Salwah Mendhar and being her relative took the girl along on the pretext of getting Adhaar card for her.
However, Latief took the girl to Balnovi area where he allegedly raped her and filmed the act on mobile. Later Latief dropped the girl at home and had allegedly threatened her not to disclose it to anyone.
The family came to know about the incident after seeing the video which was shared on social media by the accused. The family subsequently lodged a complaint with the police. A First Information Report (FIR—185/ 2017 under RPC sections of 376, 363, 354, 342 and 67/67 A IT Act—has been registered by police.
When contacted SDPO Mendhar Reyaz Ahmad Tanray confirmed the incident to Global News Service (GNS) and said that a manhunt has been launched to arrest Latief. He said that a special investigation team has been constituted and that strict action will be taken against the accused.
