"As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches on wee hours, the hiding militants opened fire triggering off a fierce gunfight between the two sides", the officer said. In the ensuing encounter sofar two militants have been killed and their identity are being ascertained, the officer said. He said that six soldiers also sustained serious bullet wounds and have been immediately evacuated to military hospital for treatment. However, two among the six soldiers declared brought dead by the doctors on arrival, the officer said. When reports last came in the searche operation was going on in the area.
