Police on Thursday released a student of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) who was detained for questioning few days ago.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, Altaf Ahmad Khan said Junaid Akhoon was released after proper investigation and questioning by the police.
“He was not involved in any case and was therefore released,” said Khan.
Already reported by this newspaper, Akhoon was detained by police from his home in Aarampora village of Awantipora tehsil of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Officials said that he was detained for questioning about his brother Salia Mohammad Akhoon, an active militant who was involved in recent bank robbery incident at Marhama Bijbehara.
Protests were held at the varsity during past two days against the detention of Akhoon.
