Srinagar, Aug 19 (KNO): A two-day ‘Kashmir Rainbow Film Festival’ is scheduled to begin at Tagore Hall Srinagar on Tuesday. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of cinema, showcasing a diverse selection of films that have garnered acclaim both nationally and internationally. The film festival comprises the films of visionary Yaqut Mushtaq, the lone female feature film producer in Kashmir, and feature films directed by Ali Emran. It is set to captivate audiences with its unique blend of storytelling and artistic expression. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), one of the key highlights of the festival is its focus on films that have been recognized at prestigious international and national film festivals. From prestigious Kolkata International Film Festival to India Habitat Film Festival The lineup includes movies such as "Qouluf: The Ensorcelled," a poignant exploration of the protagonist's inner and outer journey played outstandingly by renowned writer Bashir Dada, and "Know Me, words in black and in white" a thought-provoking narrative on self-realization. Another gem in the selection is "Ibtida, the beginning" a film inspired by Ayn Rand's novel "The Fountainhead," delving into themes of integrity and individualism. Having received acclaim during its special screening at India Habitat Centre, "Ibtida" promises to resonate deeply with audiences, the film showcases the excellent performances by actors Zameer Ashai, Late Parvez Masoodi, Bashir Dada, Shahid Gulfam amongst others. Adding to the excitement is the world premiere of "Baand," a musical journey of an artist, offering viewers a fresh cinematic experience, the main attraction of the film Baand is the fact that it has been performed by actual bands of Kashmir. With its debut at the Kashmir Rainbow Film Festival, "Baand" is set to leave a lasting impression on cinephiles. Furthermore, "The 9th Act" explores the impact of globalization, providing a thought-provoking commentary on contemporary issues. Having been previously screened at Stein Auditorium, New Delhi, this film offers a unique perspective on the ever-changing global landscape. In essence, the Rainbow Film Festival promises to be a treat for film enthusiasts in Kashmir, with its lineup of seven films symbolizing the seven colors of a rainbow.
