6 thousand collected as fine for not wearing masks in Kupwara | KNO

Kupwara, May 20 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir police in north Kashmir's Kupwara district has collected a total of six thousand as fine from people for not wearing masks made mandatory by government in view of Covid-19 threat. A police spokesperson told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that as few days ago wearing masks was made mandatory in the entire district, however, some people were found to be violating the government orders. He said that around six thousand rupees was collected as from the violators for non-compliance of the order. “The order of wearing masks was made mandatory to contain the spread of Corona-virus outbreak in the district.” The spokesperson said that on Wednesday a joint team collected 1500 rupees as fine from people for not wearing masks from different parts of Kupwara. Meanwhile Kupwara police has urged the general public to wear face masks whenever coming out of their homes in order to safeguard themselves from contracting the virus. Pertinently, 101 persons have so far tested positive for Covid-19 in the district—(KNO)
