Bla residents face water scarcity, appeal PHE officials to redress grievance | KNO

Baramulla, July 22 (KNO) : Public Health Engineering (PHE) has miserably failed to supply potable drinking water to dozens of villages in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district amid scorching heat in the Valley, thus leaving them to lurch at large. The areas facing water scarcity include Boniyar, Challa, Nowshera, Bijhama, Rampur, Trakanjan, Warikhah and villages of Uri. These villages don’t get adequate water supply as some of the locals as per the residents use potable drinking water for irrigational purpose. “Our tapes are running dry from two weeks,” the residents told KNO. “Not even a single PHE employee has visited the area to fine the people who are use tape water for irritation purposes,” they added. “The PHE department is in deep slumber. From Dawn to dusk, water availability from a week remains for just one hour,” they said. The residents said that they are facing hardships in absence of potable drinking water, urging the higher ups to look into the matter. AEE PHE, Irfan Latief told KNO that they have received complaints from several areas and immediate action will be taken against those who misuse the drinking water. “We will constitute a team for supervision and those found guilty will be punished legally,” Latief told KNO. He further added that within couple of days, the matter will be solved. Chief Engineer, PHE Kashmir, Abdul Wahid told KNO that strong action will be taken against the guilty. “Public must object such happenings and consult the department regarding these issues,” Wahid said. (KNO)
