Braving snow, thousands attend funeral of slain LeT militant in Pulwama | KNO

Srinagar, February 07 (KNO) : Braving snowfall, thousands of people on Thursday participated in the last rites of slain LeT militant in Chakoora village of Litter Tehsil in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Eyewitnesses told KNO that despite heavy snowfall, thousands including women and children participated in the funeral prayer of local Lashkar-e-Toiba militant, Irfan Ahmad Sheikh who was killed in a brief encounter in his native village on Wednesday evening. Sources said that one more militant accompanying the slain has managed to escape the site during the brief gunfight on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the eye-witnesses said that the slain was given farewell amidst pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan slogans with women singing eulogies for the slain. He was laid to rest in a local graveyard on Thursday afternoon after multiple funeral prayers were held in a local ground, they added. Irfan according to police had joined militant ranks last year and was presently district commander of LeT.(KNO)
