Civil Secretariat Employees attacked in Jammu, demand security | KNO

Srinagar, February 15 (KNO) : Kashmiri Employees’ property and cars were on Friday attacked by members of a particular community during a day-long shutdown in the district against deadly Pulwama attack. Reports reaching KNO said a crowd brandishing tricolor went on vandalizing spree amid 'curfew imposed in the district'. President Secretariat Employees Union Ghulam Rasool Mir confirmed to KNO that attempts were made to damage and set ablaze residential quarters of employees by the 'arsoning mob'. Mir said that vehicles belonging to Kashmiri employees were torched and said that they have been asking security apparatus of the police to provide them security since Thursday evening. "We will be forced to go back to our homes if they don’t want to provide us security," Mir said, adding that the issue has already been taken up with Director General of Police and Commissioner Secretary Home. Mir said that Kashmiri's are being targeted out and seems 'in a conspired manner'. Employees have said that vehicles bearing Kashmiri numbers were specifically targeted by the arsonists. “Vehicles have been torched including some put on fire,” employees confided.(KNO)
